Paid parental leave policies for staff in America's research universities

Paid Parental Leave is provided to eligible university administrators and staff, following the birth or adoption of a child, in recognition of the importance of work/life balance and offering parents the opportunity to bond with their new child. Most institutions require individuals to be FMLA-eligible (have worked for the university for at least 1,250 hours or 12 months) in order to take a paid or unpaid parental leave. Out of the 100+ top research universities in the U.S. we analyzed, nearly 43% do not provide paid parental leave for administrators and staff and around 60% provide four weeks or less.
